This happen only after PlayGame updated. 04-25 15:42:25.842 E/AndroidRuntime( 9794): java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to start activity ComponentInfo{com.google.android.play.games/com.google.android.apps.play.games.features.signin.SignInActivity}: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: No injector factory bound for Class<com.google.android.apps.play.games.features.signin.SignInActivity> |

Hi Jewoo Lee, The original PlayGame Entry is pkg=com.google.android.play.games cmp=com.google.android.play.games/com.google.android.gms.games.ui.destination.main.MainActivity After user login PlayStore, PlayGame will update automatically , the entry become to pkg=com.google.android.play.games cmp=com.google.android.play.games/com.google.android.apps.play.games.app.atv.features.home.HomeActivity Digcap should not hard code the shortcut entry, because apps has the possibility to change their entry at each release. Please refer https://developer.android.com/reference/android/content/pm/PackageManager.html#getLeanbackLaunchIntentForPackage |
Hi Jason, Could you check following extra opinion from Digcap? If you still need to inform Digcap your comments in spite of their opinion , please let me know. ---------------------------------------------------- StartActivity intent using PackageManager api following sequence when lanching the app in TV app. PackageManager.getLaunchIntentForPackage(packageName); PackageManager.getLeanbackLaunchIntentForPackage(packageName); If launching the app with intent by 1st one, crash occurs. With 2nd one, the app works normally. ----------------------------------------------------- |
Hi Jewoo, Please use the 2nd API, this API is for TV application, the 1st API is for mobile app. Our application engineer suggest that Digcap can use the following method. Use 2nd API first, if the return value of 2nd API is null, use the 1st API. |
Hi Jason, Following is the details further confirmed from Digicap. ---------------------------------------- There is no hard code. It is getting the activity intent against CATEGORY_LAUNCHER of the App through PackageManager, and getting it to execute. First, query intent by getLauncherIntentForPackage https://developer.android.com/reference/android/content/pm/PackageManager.ht If the result is null, get intent by calling getLeanbackLaunchIntentForPackage. https://developer.android.com/reference/android/content/pm/PackageManager.ht ---------------------------------------- Digicap think this issue is caused by Play Games app, because the same issue occurs on other model of STB. Please check this issue with Google. |
Hi Jewoo, There are some logic errors. According our test, the return value of getLauncherIntentForPackage is not null, but Play Game can not be open correctly. Our engineer suggest Digcap that query getLeanbackLaunchIntentForPackage first, because our device is TV device. If the return value is null, query getLauncherIntentForPackage. In addition, instead of using category.LAUNCHER, please use category.LEANBACK_LAUNCHER. (for TV device) We have test above algorithm, the "updated" Play Game can be open correctly. You can use "TVSettings > Apps > See all apps > Play Games > Open" to open "updated" Play Game correctly, so I think there is no google issue. |
Hi Jason, Thanks for your opinion. Due to following issues, we need to check 2 ways to solve this problem at the same time. - After updating Play Game app, this problem occurs. - Previous models of SKB also have this problem. Solution 1) Fix the problem on Google app. Please ask google to fix it and let us know the estimated schedule. Solution 2) Fix the problem on STBs. I will discuss about it with SKB and Digicap once again. |
Hi Jewoo, Please focus on solution (2). I don't think Google will fix Play Game. Because we have verified this issue on Google Standard Launcher, Both "original" Play Game and "updated" Play Game can be opened correctly. We have also checked source code of TvSettings, it query getLeanbackLaunchIntentForPackage first, not getLaunchIntentForPackage. Intent appLaunchIntent = mPackageManager.getLeanbackLaunchIntentForPackage(mEntry.info.packageName); if (appLaunchIntent == null) { appLaunchIntent = mPackageManager.getLaunchIntentForPackage(mEntry.info.packageName); } Because BFX-AT100 is TV devices, please query getLeanbackLaunchIntentForPackage first. |
Hi Jason, I have discussed with Digicap again. But Digicap asked us to get the plan from Google about this change, because they seem have big concern for many models to modify. So they still want to confirm Google's plan first. Could you help to check this request with Google first? Thanks. |
Hi Jewoo, According to past experience, Google will not fix this issue, because it works correctly on Standard Android TV. Even when Google fix crash issue. I think there are some risks in the launcher. If one application contains 2 entries, it may has 2 UI styles/flows, one for mobile, the other for TV. If Digicap query the getLaunchIntentForPackage in TV devices first and the return value is not null, Play Game will be executed with Mobile version entry and user will see the Mobile UI on TV. |

Digicap has solved this issue on V15.502.16. |
